Rents across the Shannonside region continue to rise, with Longford recording the highest level of increase at nearly 9 per cent.
According to the latest report from the Residential Tenancies Board, the average rent in Longford has increased from €491 per month in the third quarter of last year to €534 this year.
In Roscommon, rents rose by 6.5 per cent up from €515 in the same period to €549.
Leitrim showed the slowest growing rents at 2 per cent for the entire country on an annualised basis, with an average monthly rent now of €487.
Nationally, the board’s rent index shows the standardised average rent for new tenancies now stands at €1,056 per month, an annualised growth rate of 9.5 per cent.
The highest average rents in the country are payable in Dublin, at €1,518 per month.
