The presence of gardai on the streets of Longford town could be reduced due to resource issues.
A meeting of the Joint Policing Committee heard yesterday that figures in relation to thefts from shops and public order were substantially down, due to resources under Operation Thor 2.
Superintendent Jim Delaney said that the ability to maintain the garda presence was coming under pressure with the end of that operation.

He said public representation can play a part in getting the necessary resources and he hopes that they can be found.
