Longford Councillor wants government to extend LIS deadline

A Longford councillor says he and other local representatives will be calling on Minister Michael Ring to extend the date for possible Local Improvement Scheme roadworks.

It’s been revealed this week that the Minister’s Department has been in contact with local councils asking them to submit a list of LIS roads in their areas, and which they feel work could be finished on before the end of the year.

While the news of the possible reintroduction of the scheme has been broadly welcomed, there is a concern that the timeframe may be too short.
