Longford County Council wants the number of houses reduced by three in the controversial housing development planned for Ballymahon.
Mark Cunningham, of the N4 Axis Centre in Longford town, initially sought to build 39 houses at Dún Áras in the town, before changing it to 35 after objections were lodged.
Yesterday, the council granted permission for the development, subject to 24 conditions, including omitting three houses and instead having a larger open space.
It also wants the development carried out on a phased basis, with the children’s playground and exercise area built first.
Another condition is that some land be transferred to the council for a cycleway, while development contributions of nearly €100,000 must also be paid.
