Longford Council confirms a number of roads still impassable due to snow

Local Councils should find out today how much money they’ll get for the clean up after storm Emma.

Cabinet Ministers are meeting to discuss the response to the worst weather the country has seen for decades.

Met Eireann still has an orange warning in place for Leinster due to deep-lying snow.


Longford County Council have also issued an update on the latest situation on the roads in the county at 10am.

Local L-5128 from Moatfield Granard to Ballygilchrist is still blocked and roads crews are currently working to clear it.

Torboy 4 Roads to Abbeyderg 4 Roads not passable.

Abbeyderg 4 Roads to Lislea not passable.

The following roads are now open however extreme caution is still advised as there are snow banks each side of the road.

  • Robinstown Road Granard 
  • Rinroe Road
  • Ferskil to Lisryan 

Drivers are asked to exercise caution on local roads.
