A Longford Cystic Fibrosis campaigner has been told a cure for the disease will be developed within six to seven years.
Jillian McNulty visited the Boston HQ of pharmaceutical company Vertex who make Orkambi on Monday, following her long-running campaign to allow the drug be made available for CF suffers in Ireland.
The government recently reached agreement with Vertex for the provision of the drug and a contract for its distribution is expected to be signed in the coming days with CF suffers likely to be able to avail of the drug from the end of this month.
