LISTEN: Joy for local students as Leaving Cert results revealed

The Leaving Cert results are out and seven students have got top marks in all subjects.

A total of 57-thousand pupils sat the exams this summer, but they’ll have to wait until next week for their college offers.

7 students across the country got Higher Level Grade 1’s in eight subjects this year.

Although results are generally in line with last year’s – around 1 in 10 students doing ordinary level maths failed the exam.

The Principal of Mercy Secondary School Ballymahon was happy for the pupils in the school this morning who had already picked up their results and seemed happy with them.

Josephine Donoghue says she is seeing more students look at the option of apprenticeships in comparison to previous years and she believes that’s a good thing.

The Ballymahon school principal says that this year’s students are lucky in that the economy is improving and there are generally a lot more options for young people whatever they decide to do…

 

It was all smiles in Athlone this morning as Leaving Cert students received their results.
