Justice Minister called on to explain why new Ballymahon station plan has been shelved

The Minister for Justice is to be called upon to explain why plans to upgrade Ballymahon Garda station are on hold.

Longford Superintendent Jim Delaney told this week’s meeting of the Joint Policing Committee that due to budgetary constraints the upgrade of Ballymahon garda station and an extension to Longford’s HQ will not be progressed as part of this year’s capital programme.

Minister Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran at the Office of Public Works had announced the upgrade of Ballymahon before Christmas and says he’s launching an investigation into why it’s shelved.
