Edgeworthstown to suffer over bank closure – publican

An Edgeworthstown publican claims the town is going to suffer hugely after the closure of Ulster Bank.

It was confirmed yesterday that the bank, which has been in the town for more than 100 years, will shut its doors for the final time in September.

The closure follows the loss of the mart in the town as well as Bank of Ireland and a local court sitting in recent years.

Mal Conefrey, who runs a pub in the town, says the loss of the bank will have a major impact on other businesses too.
