37 patients on trolleys in Tullamore hospital

More than 100 people are on trolleys or chairs at hospitals that serve the Shannonside region this afternoon.

Latest figures from the INMO show that overcrowding is being reported at several hospitals, with University Hospital Galway among the worst affected.

Currently, there are 37 people seeking treatment on trolleys or chairs or in overflow areas, while in the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, 30 people are waiting to be admitted to a hospital bed.

In Mullingar, the figure is 17 while, in Sligo University Hospital, 14 people are seeking some form of medical treatment while waiting on trolleys or chairs.

In Cavan hospital, the figure is two, while a similar number are waiting at Portiuncula in Ballinasloe.
