2.2 million spend on Longford social housing

New figures show Longford County Council has spent more than €2.2 million on purchasing 20 houses since the beginning of last year.

Almost half of the properties, which will be used for social housing, are located in the Longford town area.

Details released to Shannonside FM show Longford County Council has spent €2.25 million on purchasing houses since the beginning of 2016.

A total of €736,000 has been spent on nine properties in Longford town, while it cost just over €300,000 to buy three houses at Ballinamuck.

The council bought two homes in both Granard and Edgeworthstown, at a cost of €260,000 and €208,000 respectively.

Singles houses were also bought in a number of other towns and villages throughout the country – Ballymahon, Lanesboro, Ballinalee and Legan.
