Longford town is in line for a major jobs boost after planning permission was granted for a major expansion of a company.
Panelto Foods produces high-quality sandwich breads for the UK and Irish market.
It already has a 50,000-square-foot premises at the Longford Business and Technology Park at the Ballinalee Road and wants to almost double it in size, potentially leading to an extra 110 jobs.
A planning application was lodged in June and Longford County Council has today given the plans the go-ahead, subject to 27 conditions.
The news comes despite a strong objection from Martin and Breda McLoughlin, who own a former Church of Ireland rectory at nearby Templemichael Glebe, built in 1840.
They raised fears about the impact it could have on the listed building.
