Three Shannonside hospitals with serious overcrowding this afternoon

Three hospitals in the Shannonside region are experiencing serious overcrowding this afternoon.

University Hospital Galway has the second highest number of people waiting for a bed today, with 40 people on trolleys or chairs.

In the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, 23 people are waiting for a hospital bed today, while in Mullingar hospital, INMO figures show seven people waiting to be admitted to a bed.

There is also serious overcrowding at Sligo University hospital today, with 21 people waiting for a hospital bed and nine people are waiting in Portiuncula hospital in Ballinasloe.
