Roscommon and Leitrim will be included in rural bus plan – Kelly

Fears that Roscommon and Leitrim were being excluded from plans to enhance rural bus services have eased after confirmation the process will include all areas in the Shannonside region.

The government announced over the weekend that in a bid to tackle rural isolation, and also to help some communities fears over tighter drink driving laws, an increase in rural link bus services was being considered.

However, only Longford was initially mentioned as one of the areas where an expansion of services was planned, but this has now been described as’ administrative error’.


It’s understood that the Longford-Granard bus route is currently being considered for further services, while Camilla Kelly, manager of the Sligo-Leitrim-Roscommon Local Link, is hopeful a number of  other routes will  also be examined:
