Road closure after pedestrian knocked down in Carrick

A pedestrian has been taken taken to Sligo University Hospital after being knocked down in Carrick-on-Shannon on Thursday evening.

The female was hit by a vehicle at about 7pm near the Hartley junction of the Leitrim Road, about a half a mile outside the town.

A 100-metre stretch of the Leitrim Road has been closed, with diversions in place.

Gardaí are at the scene and say the road will reopen at about 9pm.
