Owners of four valuable ponies stolen in Leitrim appeal for information

The owners of four valuable ponies that were stolen from Carrick-on-Shannon have made an appeal for their safe return.

The miniature mares were robbed from two fields in the townland of Gorlough on the road between Leitrim village and Drumsna overnight on Wednesday and Thursday.

The animals, which are bred by Thonnagh Miniature Stud, were worth about €4,000 in total.

Elaine Hunt, whose partner, Brendan Flynn, owns them, is devastated and is making an appeal for information on their whereabouts.

Elsewhere a Shannonside FM listener is hoping the public can help in tracking down the owner of a mystery bird which has landed at his house in recent days.

Kevin Masterson is in Toomin in Gortlettragh and two days ago he found a small bird at his backdoor that appeared very friendly but disappeared until last night it turned up again at his back door.

The bird is slightly bigger than a pigeon and is a distinctive grey colour with a ring of brown feathers around its neck.

Kevin is hoping someone might know who she belongs to:
