New report: Leitrim farmland still cheapest in Ireland

A new report suggests Leitrim remains the cheapest county in Ireland to buy agricultural land.

The Irish Farmers Journal’s annual land price report says the average price of an acre in the county in 2017 was almost €4,600, a 1 per cent increase on the 2016 figure.

But the price of land jumped in Roscommon by 19 per cent, to €6,100 an acre.

In Longford, the price of land is higher, at €7,300 an acre, but this is up only 3 per cent on the previous year.
