Lidl to host meeting on Carrick relocation plans

Lidl believes its annual turnover would increase by €3.5 million if its new store in Carrick-on-Shannon gets planning permission.

The supermarket giant intends moving from its current base at Cortober to a site at Attyrory and Attifinlay.

In its planning application report, filed with Leitrim County Council, it claims that its profits would substantially increase through the relocation.

In 2020, it predicts in its existing store at Cortober its turnover would be €10.7 million.

However, it claims in the new store, which would be 400 square metres bigger, its turnover that year would be €14.3 million.

Lidl is holding a public meeting to showcase its plans for the new store in Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon today from 5pm until 8pm.

Local councillor Finola Armstrong-McGuire, who is among those who strongly objects to the plans, is encouraging people to attend.
