Leitrim councillor Paddy O’Rourke has announced he wants to stand in the next general election.
Fianna Fáil has started the nomination process for the Sligo-Leitrim constituency, with the deadline for members to return their forms being this Wednesday.
O’Rourke unsuccessfully stood in the last election, along with party colleagues and now TDs Marc MacSharry and Eamon Scanlon.
West Cavan was included in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency then, but on the next occasion, it’ll be excluded, with north Roscommon drafted in instead.
O’Rourke, from Carrigallen, accepts that’s a blow for him, but is still interested in standing.
