Irish Water pleads with customers to conserve water

Irish Water is urging all local customers to make sure they report all leaks and bursts to help restore supplies and to turn off all taps that may have been left running.

Water restrictions were implemented in Longford over the weekend, while Leitrim County Council also warned customers that due to operation problems in the south of the county, several people would have experienced issues with water supply.

There are growing fears that as the thaw continues, more people will begin to discover breaks and waterpipes have broken as result of the cold weather.

Richard O’Hara, from Irish Water, says people need to be mindful of their water usage in the coming days, even if they have not experienced any issues.
