Inquest into death of husband and wife in Carrick water incident gets underway today

The inquest into the death of husband and wife who died in Carrick-on-Shannon earlier this year while on holiday is due to open this morning.

39-year-old Frank Dunne, and his wife, 34-year-old Alexandra, lost their lives in what is believed to have been a boating accident on the River Shannon on March 31st of this year.

The couple lived in Germany, but Mr. Dunne had relations in Roscommon and was a well-known visitor to Carrick over the years.


The alarm was raised when a relative of Mr. Dunne was unable to contact him or his wife after they had rented a cruiser in the town while on a boating holiday.

An inquest into their death is due to open at Carrick-on-Shannon coroner’s court this morning.
