HSE warn of OT shortages in Leitrim

The HSE is warning patients in south Leitrim about problems in occupational therapy due to staff shortages.

In a letter seen by Shannonside FM, the executive tells a Mohill resident that a referral has been received for her to be seen by a community occupational therapist.

However, the HSE says that due to staff shortages, she has been placed on a waiting list and it might be a ‘considerable period of time’ before she is seen.

The executive apologises to the patient, but insists that it’s beyond its control.

Local Sinn Féin councillor Séadhna Logan claims the problems in widespread throughout south Leitrim.
