Friends of tragic Janusz Jaciski “utterly grateful” to Carrick’s community kindness

A friend of the Polish man Janusz Jasicki whose body was recovered from the Shannon outside Carrick-on-Shannon this week has said the reaction from the local community was a huge help in their time of crisis.

Gavin O’ Toole who was a good friend of the dead man and who was with him on the night he went missing on the 30th of last month, has revealed that he and several other friends were given free accommodation for the duration of the search by local business people.

He says they were allowed stay on for an extra week in the accommodation they had originally booked, and they were then given a couple of nearby apartments to use in another part of the town.
