Fears for ambulance services in Leitrim if strike goes ahead

Ambulance services in county Leitrim could be affected by strike action next Monday if a dispute between the employees and management is not resolved.

Shannonside FM understands representatives of SIPTU members are engaged in talks with the HSE and the National Ambulance Services at the Workplace Relations Commission.

SIPTU members claim that management is imposing a number of changes to their working arrangements including rostering without adequate consultation.

The National Ambulance Service and the HSE insist these are ‘interim measures.’

The union had planned a work stoppage for four hours next Monday, starting at 8 o’clock in the morning.

It would affect the entire North West including services in Sligo, Leitrim and West Cavan.

If talks at the WRC are not successful over the next two days, contingency and emergency cover will be provided to patients.
