New figures show nearly €270,000’s worth of property tax has been deferred in 2017 in the Shannonside region.
Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe revealed this week that currently 62,500 properties countrywide have local property tax deferrals in place, most of which have had them in place since it was introduced in 2013.
Almost 2,000 of those households are in the Shannonside region.

This year, a total of 877 properties in Roscommon have deferral liabilities of 121,000.
A total of 614 homes in Longford owe €78,000 and 456 properties in Leitrim have a total outstanding amount of €64,000.
People can apply for a deferral for various circumstances, such as income level, hardship or personal insolvency.
