Concerns have been raised about the staffing levels in Leitrim County Council.
At today’s annual budget meeting of the local authority, Fianna Fáil councillor Seán McGowan asked if the organisation’s workforce would increase in 2018.
He asked the question after it was revealed the council’s budget was set to increase by €2 million next year, to €35 million.
Councillor McGowan noted Roscommon County Council’s will have an additional 20 staff next year, but temporary chief executive Joseph Gilhooly didn’t make any commitment, only saying the replacement of staff wasn’t ‘being looked at’.
Councillor McGowan believes Leitrim council’s staffing levels are inadequate.
