Concern over job losses at Drumshanbo Food Hub recede

The Manager of the Food Hub in Drumshanbo has confirmed that the water supply to the site has improved considerably today, and companies there are at 60 to 70 per cent of normal production.

Fergal Mc Partland was speaking in the aftermath of serious concerns at the Hub yesterday about job losses due to the ongoing water supply problems.

The food and drink companies at the Hub which are all heavily reliant on water, had no supply at all yesterday and many were unable to operate.

Fergal Mc Partland says a lot of the businesses actually need water and the pressure from the mains in order to operate their machinery, so it’s not just a case of them getting a supply of water by any other means.

He says the companies suffered disruption last week due to the bad weather and this compounded the problems earlier this week.

The Food Hub manager says everyone is hoping that the progress made on restoring the water will continue.
