Carrick Councillor calls for immediate safety works at Cloonturk roundabout

A Carrick-on-Shannon councillor has called for urgent action to be taken to replace fence panels at one the biggest roundabouts on the N4

Two serious accidents took place at the Cloonturk roundabout on the Dromod- Rooskey bypass last autumn, and since then, the panels have been absent due to damage sustained in the crashes.

Councillor Sean McGowan raised the issue at this month’s meeting of the Carrick municipal district and was told by the council that the drivers involved in the crashes are being legally pursued to pay for the repair of the fencing.
