Carrick body confirmed as that of missing Polishman

Gardaí  have confirmed that the body found in Carrick-on-Shannon last night was that of missing man Janusz Jasicki.

The remains were taken from the Shannon near Hartley bridge at about 8.45pm.

The body was taken to Sligo University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is being carried out.


A formal identification of the body has now taken place and it’s been confirmed it was that of Mr Jasicki, who went missing on September 30 after attending a function in Carrick.

The Polish man, who was 30, lived at Bray in Co Wicklow.

Inspector Denis Harrington says the discovery brings to an end a thorough search.
