Up to 400 ‘Goldwing’ motorbikes to arrive in Leitrim tonight

Motorbike enthusiasts in Leitrim are in for a treat tonight with up to 400 Goldwing bikes from across Europe travelling in a special “parade of light” from Drumshanbo to Carrick-on-Shannon.

The bikers and their families are on a three day visit to the county for the second time.

The group is based at Lough Allen hotel and include Irish Goldwing owners as well as people from 23 other EU countries.

The bikers are touring the region over the weekend and as well as tonight’s parade, they will hold a “nation’s parade” though Carrick-on-Shannon tomorrow afternoon at half past two when they will display flags and colours form the various counties involved.

Tonight’s “parade of light” will see the bikers festoon their bikes with lights and leave form Drumshanbo shortly after nine o clock before travelling on through Leitrim village and arriving at the Moon River Car Park at Carrick-on-Shannon.

Liam Browne who is Chairman of the Goldwing Owners Club of Ireland says the organisation is very family orientated and they are delighted to come back to Leitrim again following a very successful first visit…
