More than 2,000 people are without electricity in the south Leitrim area this morning after damage caused by Storm Eleanor, which brought winds of up to 155 kilometres per hour.
There was extensive outages countrywide last night and 27,000 throughout Ireland remain without power.
The worst affected area in the Shannonside region is Arigna, on the Leitrim/Roscommon border, where 1,265 people are without power, while there are also large outages in Carrigallen, Carrick-on-Shannon, Ballinamore, Aughavas and Mohill areas.
An orange weather warning remains in place in Leitrim, while Roscommon and Longford are among the counties where a yellow warning is in place.
