Irish Water says it’s doing a better job that county councils ever did

Irish Water is insisting it’s delivering water services cheaper than the 34 local authorities were – but it can’t say by how much.

The oireachtas committee on the future of water services, has also heard that the cost of billing customers is 25 million euro a year.

The Committee heard from the Commission for Energy Regulation that the metering programme should be ‘parked’ but not ‘abandoned’ while it focuses on investment in other areas.
