Ibrahim Halawa has been found innocent of all charges against him.
The 21 year old from Firhouse in Dublin has been in jail in Egypt for over four years after being arrested during a political demonstration.
There are tears, screams and hugs here in Firhouse this afternoon following the news of Ibrahim’s acquittal.
After four years of being locked up in an Egyptian jail and four years of postponements and legal delays – the 21-year-old has been found innocent of all charges against him.
His sisters Fatima and Omaima say it was a nervous wait for the verdict.
In Egypt – Ibrahim had tears in his eyes and hugged his fellow prisoners when he heard the innocent verdict.
The President, Taoiseach and Foreign Affairs Minister have all welcomed the news.
The priority now is to get Ibrahim home as soon as possible.
