The festival is being organised by the local Action Group and will involve a range of competitions and displays for birds, as well as horses and dogs.

Events will be held at a number of venues around the town until next Saturday, the 19th, as part of the festival.

They will include the World Hawking Conference and Displays, two International Dog Shows, International Field Trials for pointers and setters, and Connemara pony events.

Organisers say they are expected up to 3,000 people at attend at events across the next week or so.
