« BackCarrick sets world record on rock the boat

LM Carrick on ShannonCarrick on Shannon looks set to get into the Guinness Book of Records for the largest “rock the boat” event in the world.

The organisers of the Carrick 400 celebrations decided to give the event a try as part of their carnival over the weekend and 1700 people turned up to take part.

The previous record involved in the region of 1500 or so, and organisers say they are delighted to have beaten that.

Committee member Brendan Kieran says it took a lot of organising, both before and during the event itself, but he hopes that their attempt will be officially recognised.

Brendan says they are hoping to get their verification from Guinness in the next five to six weeks.
