A national housing charity is calling on the government to extend its rental controls to the Shannonside region.
The Minister for Housing Simon Coveney confirmed yesterday that the government is looking to cap rental increases in large urban centers such as Dublin and Cork.
However, concern has been expressed locally that some landlords have increased prices in towns in the Shannonside region by up to €1,000 euro per month in the last year.

Aideen Hayden from housing charity Threshold told the Joe Finnegan Show that there needs to be countrywide rent-control measures put in place.
