Apollo House fully vacated this morning

The High Court has been told that Apollo House has been vacated as per the court order granted before Christmas.

The case came back to court this morning after the judge refused to extend yesterday’s deadline to leave the NAMA owned building.

The order to vacate Apollo House took effect from 12noon yesterday, but it became clear soon afterwards that some planned to stay on anyway.

It followed an unsuccessful attempt by the HOME SWEET HOME Group to extend the order by a week.

They accused the Minister for Housing Simon Coveney of reneging on promises made about the provision of “safe and suitable” accommodation.

But Mr. Justice Paul Gilligan refused their application.

He said the suitability of alternatives was a matter for the Government and not the courts.
